Where have I been?

It's been forever since I've posted anything. Things have been so crazy and busy this holiday season. I am usually almost done buying Christmas items by Thanksgiving but am very behind this year.

Zachary got hearing aids a week ago. He has a mild hearing loss, so he can still hear, but these will help him hear those few sounds he's not picking up. And it should help his speech improve. He wears them fine when I'm not around. But when I'm there he wants to whine and complain. He thinks mom will let him get away with everything. But he has got to get used to wearing them. They cost $1850 each and insurance does NOT cover those. Isn't that nice? A child needing something like that to develop and speak correcly and it's not covered, not even a portion? The only help it seems you can get is if you have 10 kids and make under $15000 a year. It's ridiculous.

My work Christmas party was last night. It was very fun. Ryan Shupe and the Rubber Band was there and played some songs. They gave away so much money and prizes. We all got to leave with a portable DVD player and get extra money with our next paycheck as a gift. It has been such a great place to work. So many nice extras they do for us. I'm very grateful to work for such a great place.

Friday night I'm having a party for all of Paul's family at our house. I am taking Thursday and Friday off work to prepare. Then Saturday we will go to Delta for a family party with all of my dad's side of the family.

I just got all of my Christmas cards in the mail. Finally, one thing crossed off of my to do list.

Eye Surgery

I had surgery on my eyes on November 13. It was so bruised and looked horrible the first few days after. It's looking better now but still a little black & blue. If you want to see a pic, click here.

Surgery Tomorrow

I am scheduled to have surgery tomorrow on my right eye. Over the years my eyelashes have turned in towards my eye so the doctor is going to turn them back out and try to fill in some of the hollowness above my eye. I'm a little nervous but I'm sure the fear won't really hit until we are on our way up to SLC. I will be glad when it's over with.

Halloween

It was Savanna's 1st birthday today. She's our little spook. Zachary refused to wear his costume so he ended up in Camo pants to be a army guy. He had the cutest spider costume. Oh well. Savanna was a little bee and Hanley was a little devil. In the past she has always wanted to be a pretty princess. This is the first year she wanted to do something scary instead.

Halloween is a big deal at work. I wore scrubs and called myself a nurse. Here's a pic of me with a few of my co-workers.

Zachary

We took Zachary to Primary Children's on Tuesday for a sedated hearing test. They put him out (not as far under as a surgery, just enough to make him sleep for a bit), and put electrodes on his head and earphones. They send sounds through the earphones and can see on a graph exactly what his brain is hearing. He was pretty much on as far as the tones from high pitch to low pitch. But he was a little low on the volume side of things, just below the average mark. So I guess at this point they will probably do a trial of hearing aids to see if we can get him hearing at the volume he should be. That in turn should help him with his speech. When he woke up from the medicine he was acting as if he was drunk. He was being really silly and making funny faces. We got a little laugh out of that.

Savanna

Here's a new pic of my little Savanna. She is going to be 1 year old on Halloween. So crazy! It seems like I just had her. My Zachary will be 3 the day before Halloween.

Long time..

It's been a while since I've written anything. I had surgery in my mouth on Monday and I think it was the worst thing I've been through. I was so scared. I'm left with a swollen jaw and bruising but hopefully the issue is resolved.

Savanna is totally walking everywhere. She will mimic most things we try to get her to say but she can say 'kitty', 'stop it' and 'don't' all by herself. It's so cute.

Zachary will be going to Primary Children's in a couple weeks for a sedated hearing test. Hopefully everything goes well.

Hanley's First Day of 2nd Grade

Hanley started 2nd grade today. She was very excited. We've been trying to keep up on her reading, spelling and math during the summer. So hopefully she doesn't feel like she's forgotten anything. Her teacher's name is Mrs. Findlay. She rode the bus to school then I met her there and we went to her class together.

J.T. & Tyrel's Wedding Day

My niece J.T. got married on Saturday, August 11. She looked fabulous and everything was really pretty. The pictures I took of the bride & groom came out really dark, so luckily I took some pictures of her bridal pictures that were sitting on the tables.

This is my brother Robert and his wife Monica, the mother of the bride.

Pioneer Day

Paul was lucky enough to get today off but I went to work for a few hours in the morning. We hung out at home for the afternoon then went to the in-laws house to watch fireworks. They live by the old ball park and it's close to where they set them off. Zachary was scared of all of the personal fireworks that were going off, but slowly got used to it. By the end he was loving them.

Grandpa Seat's Birthday

Saturday was Grandpa Seat's birthday. We went to their house for a BBQ. It was us, Dave & Julie and their kids, and of course Grandma and Grandpa. He is 76 years old. He has survived 2 open heart surgeries, several other issues, lung problems, and a broken hip and wrist. He's been through a lot and we are glad he's still around.

Zachary's Adventure

I had Monday off of work so I slept in a little bit. Usually when Zachary wakes up he comes into my room. Well, he had snuck outside and got on his little truck (no peddles, just the kind you push with your feet). Anyway, the neighbor down the street saw him and brought him home. His little feet were so black. We go for walks around the neighborhood at nights, so I guess he figured he could do it himself. Gave me a scare for sure.

Hanley's Birthday Party

Hanley had her birthday party on Saturday. It went well. We had a piniata, some games, then cupcakes and presents. There were 10 girls that came, so it was a good turnout.

Savanna has 5 teeth

Savanna has another pearly white that has shown up in the last day or so, I just noticed it last night. She now has 5 teeth. I think she wants to eat grown up food so bad that she's forcing them out. We are having a birthday party for Hanley tomorrow. We will have a piniata, some games and cupcakes. I'll post some pics next week.

Introduction

This is the first day of my blog. It's been hard to be motivated today after having a 5 day weekend for the 4th of July last week. I guess I should start off with a little about the Seat Family. Paul and I have been married for 10 years and have 4 children, Paige just turned 16, Hanley will be 7 next week, Zachary is 2 1/2 and Savanna is 8 months. Between work, kids & a house we have our hands full.
