Movie Night

Last night the kids wanted us all to watch Despicable Me. Even though they had watched it about 10 times over the weekend. We all piled on my bed and watched the movie. Not the best night to watch a movie considering we all had to get up early the next morning, but it was over by 8:30 which is usually their bedtime. We try for about 8:00 on Sunday nights but it was alright. Paul only saw about 20 minutes of it before he was asleep since he had to get up at 4:00 this morning. I had seen a few minutes here and there as they watched it earlier but finally saw the whole thing and it was pretty cute.

Canteloupe

I bought a canteloupe on Saturday that cost way too much but Hanley really wanted it. When I woke up Sunday morning the dog had chewed the side of it. It must have smelled too good not to have a taste. Hanley was upset and said "now we have to throw it away." I told her there was still a bunch that we can eat and we'll just cut off the bad part. I always put bread and such where I know she can't get to it, but canteloupe?

Kids

This morning after I did Savanna's hair she came into the bathroom and looked in the mirror and smiled. She said "let's put some jam in my hair." Meaning mousse. I don't know why she said jam but it was so funny.

Last night after we took Hanley to her tumbling class, Zachary and I ran to the store to get a few things. Usually we get there just in time to pick her up but we still had a 1/2 hour so we went in and watched her. Zachary kept saying "there aren't any boys here but I could do that." He was amazed anytime one of the girls would do a backflip or a cartwheel on the balance beam. When it was over we went to the car and waited for her to come out. When she walked out Zachary said "Hanley is pretty."

So pretty, oh so pretty

All Savanna can talk about lately is being 'pretty'. She wants to tell me how to do her hair and what she wants to wear so she can be 'pretty'. This morning after I got dressed she told me "mom, those shoes are ugly and they make you ugly. You need high heels or something." And (thanks to Hanley for continually asking her if she wants them) keeps telling me "I want my ears 'piered' so I will be pretty. Everyone will think I am pretty."

This is how she's wanted me to do her hair everday lately. The sides pulled up in a braid then everything else down. When her hair is wet it goes clear down to her bum. We get at least one comment everywhere we go about her hair. People just can't believe that she's so little and it's so long and curly.

Weekend

Last Friday me and the kids went to my parents for the night. I desperately needed my mom to do my hair and the kids were dying to see cousins. I usually take a ton of pictures but didn't even take one. Friday night I helped my mom type up new pricelists for her shop and we went to dinner. Saturday we made some cute heart things that I'll have to put out next year for Valentine's Day. A super cute idea and super easy for visiting teachers or friends. I was thinking of possibly making easter egg shaped ones for Easter. Then my mom weaved my hair and we left.

On Monday my parents and brothers family drove up and we ate lunch at Chili's. They were packed. I called before we left the house and we still had to wait 4o minutes. Apparently everyone else had President's Day shopping on their minds too.

Hanley's Spring Pictures

Hanley had spring pictures taken a couple weeks ago and got them back yesterday. They turned out super cute.

Kids and their dog

The dog has realized that she can jump on the trampoline and now loves to get it on whenever the kids are out there. She thinks she's one of them. I hate how bad the yard gets in the winter. And as you can see we put the bars on for our safety net but never put the net on, now they padding on the bars are destroyed.

You are my girlfriend

Last night I was in the laundry room and Zachary wanted the mop, I told him no. Then he wanted the broom and then the duster. I told him it was too late to get it out and so he asked if he could carry the laundry basket with clean clothes upstairs. I told him it was probably too heavy but he grabbed it up and hauled it upstairs. Then he came back down and said "mom, let's go fold laundry." I went up with him and when we walked in my room he said to me "mom, you are my girlfriend" and he smiled. It was too cute. He folded more than half what was in there then started putting everything away. That kid is such a hard little worker. He's the first one to get things cleaned and picked up when I ask the kids to do something.

14 Year Wedding Anniversary

Today is me and Paul's 14 year anniversary. It gets crazier every year thinking it's been "that long." First we had a gourmet dinner of Stouffers cheese enchiladas then we finished off the night with some exciting clothes folding. That's a fabulous way to spend our 14th year together, at least we're together. I love you Paul!

Happy Valentine's Day

When I woke up I got the kids Valentine's ready. I had heart cellophane bags and put a few M&M's in the bottom with a taffy and a box of heart candies. Savanna and Hanley got Valentine's socks. Hanley got a bracelet kit and Savanna got a Ballerina book. The gifts were just dollar store items but they sure were cute and made the kids' morning. Zachary got the same except no socks. He just got an awesome semi truck toy from the movie Cars. Paul got a card and bag full of Hershey kisses. Nothing too exciting. We did go to lunch today at the place we had our first date. That was fun! Our Anniversary is tomorrow and in a couple months we'll go away for a weekend alone or something.

Service Project

On Valentine's Day Hanley's class usually does a service project. The last couple of years they have made fleece blankets. I think they donate them to a hospital or something for kids. They cut strips around all the edges and tie them. A few parents come to help each group. I went this morning. I try to help her class with something like that or a field trip once a year so I feel like I'm doing something. I think Hanley likes it when I help out.

H A N L E Y

I went to Hanley's school this morning to help with a project. While I was waiting for the kids to return from recess I was looking on the wall outside the classroom. Each kid had made a paper with their name on it and wrote something about them with each letter. Most of the kids had something fun about them for each letter so I had to laugh when I saw Hanley's choice for her "H" and her "N".

View

This the view on the way to work every day. It was really clear and I had to stop for a quick picture.

The Buggy

Zachary had been bugging Paul for 2 days to start the buggy. Paul finally got it started on Sunday and Zachary wanted nothing to do with it. Not that it was a surprise, he won't even get close to it. It is so loud (but so cool). He just wanted to hold the flag in front of it and say "ready, set, go!" The girls love going for rides and all Savanna tells him the whole time is "go faster!"

Strep Throat

Yesterday I worked at home for about 30 minutes in the morning but couldn't continue, I had to lay down. My head hurt, my throat hurt, my body hurt, my fever reached almost 102. Finally this morning I woke up and couldn't even talk. My throat and glands were so swollen. I went to InstaCare and do have Strep Throat. I've eaten once since Thursday afternoon when I started feeling sick. And I did just have a chocolate shake. It's exruciating to swallow. I didn't realize how debilitating it could be. The doctor said that it's usually the kids who have it, but this year they have seen so many adults with it. I don't know if I've ever had strep throat, but when I think of "Strep Throat" I think of just a sore throat. I guess there are different levels of sickness with it but I feel awful. It's hard to even stand up and do anything. I really hope I get feeling better soon. I've done nothing for the last 2 1/2 days but lay down on the couch and sleep.

Sick

Yesterday I felt totally fine. At 1:30 pm we had a company meeting and during that meeting my throat started to hurt. It was over at 2:30 pm and by then I could hardly swallow without wanting to cry. Hanley needed to go to the doctor cause she had a unirary tract infection so I left at 3:00 to go pick her up. When I left then my head was killing and I felt awful. We took her to the doctor and had to go pick up a prescription for her. Half way home I started shivering in the car. I was freezing. In about 4 hours I went from feeling completely fine to completely awful. I took my temperature when I got home and it was 101.2. I laid on the couch the rest of the evening. I slept horribly. Just standing up I feel dizzy and I'm still freezing. I've never had a sore throat this bad. I hope it's not strep throat or something. Maybe the flu. I don't know but I don't get sick very often and I hate feeling like this.

I'll wait

This morning I passed the bathroom and the cat jumped on the counter. I was in a hurry getting Zachary ready to go so I just walked past her. When I came back up she was laying in the sink waiting patiently for me to turn the water on for her.

Naked Barbies everywhere

Why do little girls think they have to undress Barbie's? Seriously, I get so bugged. I tell her and tell her to leave their clothes and and before I know it they are all naked.

"Look mom, I did my own hair"

When I got home last night Savanna was so excited that she had done her own hair. Then she added a beanie.

Going for a ride

Hanley has a tumbling class on Wednesday night. The dog loves to go for rides and this is about the only time I take her in the car. She gets so excited and barks at random things. She got up front on Hanley's lap and I yelled at her to get in the back so she hurried and layed down. On the way home we saw this beautiful sky and I had to stop and take a picture.

I had a bad dream

Savanna came out of her room this morning and said "mom, I had a bad dream". I asked her what it was about and she said "monsters". "They took my blankets off and THEY WERE EVEN IN MY BARBIE HOUSE!" Zachary said "what color were they?" She said "brown". Zachary said "I'm going to go see" and headed to Savanna's room. I heard him upstairs when he reached her room saying "Arrr!" He must have thought he'd scare them.

40 tall

Savanna stood up to our little height chart and Hanley told her she was 40 inches tall. When she got in bed she told me "I am 40 tall!" "Oh, I am going to tell everyone tomorrow that I am 40 tall." "I can't believe I am 40 tall!"

Weekend

Saturday morning we did a few chores around the house while Paul caught up on some sleep from working 4:00 am - 5:30 pm every day during the week. At least he got Saturday off. Then we headed up to Hobbytown cause Paul needed some parts for his RC helicopter. The kids were starving. Across the street we noticed that the Texas Roadhouse has finally opened so we went there (thanks Kathy for the gift certificate). It was super yummy. It was busy when we went in, but holy cow, when we left it was crazy! Thank goodness we got there when we did.

The kids had another sleep out in the tent in the living room. They picked a movie on Netflix and watched it on my laptop in the tent.

Sunday after church we visited Paul's parents. I took my 2010 blog book and Paul's dad loved it. He looked through the whole thing and kept saying "this is so neat".

I had volunteered to help glue candy to cards for Hanley's school Valentine's Candy Grams. I didn't realize it would be about 400 of them. I'm sure they had other mom's doing them as well. Luckily Hanley helped me and I put the hot glue on each card and she'd stick the candy.

Bean Museum

Zachary's class went to the Bean Museum today. He wanted me to go so I asked his teacher if I could just meet them there. There wasn't room on the bus anyway, and I didn't want to take a full day off work for a 45 minute field trip. He was super excited when he saw me. He kept running from one animal to another so fast. We'll have to go again and take Savanna. We had a paper with a list of colors and we had to write down an animal to go with each color. I love my little Zachary!

Butterflies

Yesterday as I was getting on the freeway to go home there was a car behind the one behind me and I thought it was Paul. As it got closer I realized it was him. I got this excited feeling in my stomach and smiled so big. He wondered if that was me in front of him so he started to pass me. When he got to the side of me he was smiling and winked. It was too cute. I love that even after 14 years he still gives me butterflies in my stomach. And the wink, he always winks at me, if we just glance at each other while eating dinner, he winks. I love him!
