Ear Doctor

Zachary had an ear doctor appointment yesterday with a specialist. The tubes he has now are 3 years old and the doctor thinks he's ready for new ones. He said we can go ahead and schedule to do it, or just wait until they totally fail, then do it. I told him that I'd already met my deductible for this year, so I'd rather do it before the end of the year. I'd hate to wait, then in January they fail, and then have to pay for most of it.

Funny things to note

Savanna: "I made a new friend at school today"
Me: "Oh, what's her name?"
Savanna: "I dunno"
It's funny how kids make friends and they don't care what their name is or anything about them, they just know they have fun together and that's all that matters.

Hanley got home from school yesterday and said that one of her friends pierced another friends ear. Now she wants me to pierce her ear, using some ice to numb it and a needle. Her reasoning is that it won't cost any money. I will not be putting a needle through her ear.

Booger

We have a new friend at our house. He showed up one day and I told the kids to leave him alone but he refused to leave. We have put ads in the paper and put signs all around town about him. But no one has claimed him and it's been about four weeks. We've been calling him Booger and he totally responds to it. He's kinda grown on us and even though he's pretty ugly, he's one of the nicest dogs I've ever known. He might be sticking around with us for a while.

First Day of School

Zachary and Savanna were excited about starting school today. I don't know if Hanley was excited about school, or just seeing her friends again. Savanna (Mrs. Burnah) is in 1st grade, Zachary (Mr. Thurgood) is in 3rd, and Hanley is in 8th. I can't believe that they are all in full time school now. They are growing up way too fast.
Hanley has History, Concert Choir, PE, English, Digital Literacy, Science and Math for the first half of the year. In the second half, she swaps PE & Digital Literacy with Health and Food Exploration.

School Haircut

Zachary's hair had grown so much during the summer and he absolutely hates for me to get it wet and comb it, so we cut it again for school quite short. This way I just have to rub it a little with some gel and he's good to go. We have a set of clippers and it makes it so easy to do it myself.

Camping at Yuba

We went camping on Saturday with my little brother and his family and my parents. I didn't tell Zachary or Savanna that anyone was coming with us, so when they saw the others driving in with their trailers, they were so excited. They had a blast swimming and playing in a giant mud hole.

Betty Remington

My aunt's mom passed away last week. Her and her husband used to come camping with us once in a while and I remember going to her house to watch fireworks. I remember riding in her orange buggy when we were elk hunting in Fairview canyon one year. She used to email me funny pictures all the time. I thought she was a neat lady and I'm glad I knew her.

Elizabeth “Betty” Aline Schuhardt Remington, age 89, passed away peacefully on the morning of August 4, 2013. She was born March 15, 1924 in Terre Haute, Indiana to William and Anna Trine Schuhardt. She married Norman Edward Remington on August 19, 1944 in Starke, Florida. Norman passed away November 8, 1994. In 1963, Betty along with her husband and three children, moved from Indiana to Santa Ana, California. They made California their home for twenty-three years before retiring and moving to Delta, Utah. They loved living in Delta and remained there for the rest of their lives. Betty is survived by her daughters: Sandy Keef, Menifee, CA; Judi (Ron) Haag, Delta, UT; son: Stacey (Teri Lyn) Remington, Farmington, UT; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister: Wilma Thompson. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the nurses and staff at Millard Care and Rehabilitation where she resided for the past four months. She really valued all the friendships she made with the staff and other residents.

Camping

We finally loaded up our motorhome and went camping one night. The kids had a blast riding their bikes/scooters and they made a couple friends. A group was having a big family reunion and they had a little carnival with games, snow cones and cotton candy and they invited the kids to join in. It was so nice to just sit and relax and do nothing in the outdoors. The kids threw rocks in the river and the dogs played in it a little bit too.

School Awards

Both Zachary and Savanna got an award at school last year. I finally found their pictures on the school website and wanted to post them. They were both so excited to be recognized for being great kids.

Seven Peaks

I took a few days off work to do some things with the kids before school starts. We have the Pass of All Passes and I've been telling the kids all summer that we'd go to Seven Peaks at least once this summer. I finally had to take them. I'd been hearing how crazy crowded it is and wasn't looking forward to it. We got there right when they opened. It got pretty busy but we only went on the mild rides, and they weren't too long of lines so it was OK. We stayed about 3 1/2 hours. I made Zachary and Savanna wear their lifejackets the whole time. I am totally paranoid about the water, especially when there were so many people there.

Another Tooth Bites the Dust

Zachary had a loose tooth and he was eating some cereal and started to cry. He bit on it and it was bleeding. I told him I was going to pull it out and he was refusing. I told him I'd give hime $5 if he let me pull it out (thinking he wouldn't let me). But I knew he couldn't continue eating with it that loose so I made him sit still while I pulled it. As he was crying he said "where's my $5?"

Races

On Saturday we took the kids to the Millard County Fair, they love seeing the bunnies and baby animals. That night we went to the racetrack. Zachary was in heaven, it's his favorite thing ever.
