Weekend

Paul had to do some drywall work at our neighbors house on Saturday. Paige and Hanley went to the Color Festival. Zachary, Savanna and Brynlie spent lots of time playing outside and I got to get some things done in the house that have needed to be done for a while. It was nice to get a few things done. Then it snowed on Sunday. It was so wet and heavy. I know we need the snow in the mountains, but it's been so nice and it was kind of sad to see it.

Dental Checkups

The kids had a checkup at the dentist yesterday. Hanley had 1 cavity (under a sealant, how does that happen?), Savanna had 2 and Zachary had 3. I know Savanna and Zachary don't brush long enough or good enough. They brush every day, but I need to make sure I supervise a little more so they get the entire mouth.

Weekend

The kids were out of school on Friday so Paige and I took all the kids to the movie, Mr. Peabody & Sherman. Paige also had 3 of her niece/nephews so it made for a big group. Zachary went with Paul to Manti for a baseball game so they missed out. The movie was cute. Afterwards we let the kids play for a while.

On Saturday, Paul had to take the speech/debate team to South Jordan. My mom was up there at her sisters so me and kids drove up and picked up Paul from his bus, met my mom, grandma, aunt and uncle for lunch, then took the kids to Scheels. They had a ferris wheel inside and the kids couldn't wait to get on it.

Utah Jazz Dunk Team

To kick off March Madness (when all of the college basketball teams have a big tournament), my work brought in the Utah Jazz Dunk Team to perform. I've never seen them but a few weeks ago, we watched Undercover Boss that featured the Jazz. So it was super fun to see them after watching that show. I couldn't believe how high in the air they'd get.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent/Teacher Conferences go so quickly, they always have fabulous things to say about the kids and no complaints. I love that they are kind, helpful and eager to learn at school. Their teachers wouldn't know what to think if they saw how they fight and complain at home. Savanna had this cute pot of gold picture on the wall outside her class. I love this! Zachary had a moon and snowflake on his wall.

PT

Zachary has gone to physical therapy twice this week. The second time he didn't really need it. He's walking just fine and has gotten over the "it might hurt so I better limp" mentality.

St. Patrick's Day

The kids weren't too interested in wearing green today. Hanley just shrugged when I said something about wearing green and Zachary didn't care either. Savanna wanted to wear her new shirt so she put on green earrings and I put some green ribbon in her hair. I bought a new green shirt the other day not even thinking of St. Patrick's Day, and just happened to wear it today.

Happenings

Paul had to take the girls softball team to St. George from Thursday to Saturday. We had planned to drive down separately and stay with him since he already had a room paid for by the school. But since Zachary got hurt we ended up not going. I have been home all week with him. He's spent most of his days watching TV and playing the iPad while I worked and tried to do a few chores around the house. I'd turn the TV off every once in a while and have him color or read a few books. He was really ornery today. When Savanna got home from school she wanted to jump on the trampoline. I sent Zachary outside with her in his wheelchair. He wheeled around the patio for almost two hours. I think he just needed some time outside in the sun and out of the house. He was much happier. He has been practicing with his crutches but is so wobbly on them. I walk behind him to make sure he doesn't fall. As I was in the other room tonight, I heard him start to cry. I came in and he had fallen down. Unless he gets really good on his crutches in the next two days, I don't think I'll dare have him go to school with them. I think he'll just use the wheelchair. I'd hate for him to fall and end up breaking an arm or hurting his knee worse.

Checkup

We went to the doctor again today to get the results of the MRI. His knee is not fractured, it's just bruised and sprained. There is a bit of swelling in the knee, but the cartilage and ligaments and everything is fine. He doesn't have to have surgery or even a hard cast. He got a knee brace on that he can bend his leg. He can't put any weight on it yet and will have to use the crutches. He will go to a physical therapist to get it moving and then after a while, slowly start to put weight on it. But all in all, the results were great and he should recover faster than we thought.

Quarter Roll

Paul told Savavnna that he'd give her the quarter if she could roll it down her nose and have it land on the circle he had drawn on the paper. Each time the quarter didn't get into the circle, he would circle the quarter again with the pencil and she'd try again. She had marks down her forehead from the pencil circling the quarter. She was so excited to get the money and didn't realize it was a trick.

Selfie's

I found a bunch of selfie's on my phone that Hanley had taken. I have to post these since she won't let me take any pictures of her. I'll use the ones she takes. She's looking more like Paige all the time. Love this girl!

Checkup/MRI

Zachary had an appointment with an orthopedic doctor. They took more x-rays. The growth plate under his knee was actually what got fractured. The doctor wanted to see if there was any damage to the cartilage in between the knee cap and fractured bone. The doctor could kind of see something in there and he wasn't sure if it was a piece of bone or if the cartilage is loose. So he had to get an MRI. Hopefully nothing is loose in there otherwise he might have to have surgery.

While we were waiting for them to come get him for the MRI, he kept seeing people walk by. He said "old people keep walking by and looking at me. I'm surrounded. Let's get outta here." It was funny.

When they took him back, I went into the waiting room. In about 3 minutes they came into the waiting room and called my name. The MRI tech said "he is not going to go in there without you in the room." I had to change out of my clothes into scrubs. He was so scared and just looked at me the while time while I held his hand.

Tooth

Savanna has had this loose tooth for months now. I kept telling her that I was going to get Paul's pliers and pull it out. Finally it was loose enough that she was going to take care of it. She had the tweezers, pliers and a paper towel to dab the blood. She couldn't get it all the way out so I pulled it the rest of the way. She's pretty brave. She said "I haven't even cried!"

X-Rays

This first x-ray shows Zachary's injury. Actually, I can't really see anything. But the doctor pointed out that the dark spot by the arrow is the injury. I've always thought x-rays were so interesting.

I worked at home today and will the rest of the week. Zach has an appointment tomorrow with an orthopedic doctor so hopefully we'll have a little more information then as to how they can cast it and how bad the injury really is or isn't. He's definitely in a lot of pain when the Ibuprofen wears off.

Fractured Knee

We came down to my parents house last night and the kids were playing downstairs then they went to sleep. This morning when I got up Zachary said that he couldn't walk. He said that he was running around and ran into Savanna then into the couch. All morning he wouldn't put any weight on his leg and cried every time I asked him if he could move it. It wasn't bruised or swollen so I figured it was probably OK. But since he could not put any weight on it, we took him to the ER. They did x-rays and the bone behind his knee cap was fractured. I felt bad that I had been trying to get him to walk on it. They put it in a splint and he has to wear that for 5-7 days then get a hard cast on it for 6 weeks.

Hiding

Hanley's cat hid in Savanna's doll house when I was vacuuming. She was peeking out the hole to make sure I wasn't going to get her.

Choir Concert

Hanley had her spring choir concert last night. They sang a bunch of songs in different languages.

Dr. Suess Day

Savanna's class celebrated Dr. Suess day and when we got home, she went to her room. She came down a little while later with a 'Cat in the Hat' hat that she had made. Instead of using tape, she had band-aids to hold it together.

Big Brother

Savanna told me that some kids were being mean to her yesterday at school. And it was kids that are normally nice to her. Zachary told her "that's rude! If they say that again, you tell them to come see me!" Then he said "I'll follow you around and you tell me when they say mean things."

I don't know that he knows what he'd do if they are mean, but regardless, he'll be there for her. I thought that was pretty awesome that he is going to stand up for her considering they are constantly fighting. I love seeing these little things that makes me realize they really do love each other.

Playing

I think we are all so ready for it to be summer and warm. The kids are always wanting to be outside with this nice weather and I can't wait for my yard to be green again. We were chipping away the ice pile by our back patio to help it melt and Zachary was throwing chunks of ice for Bugar.

Puppy Love

Bugar loves Savanna. She is so nice to him when the rest of us push him away from his stinky breath. She just loves him and he loves her. She wanted to sleep on my floor and as soon as she laid down, he was right there with her. He was bummed when we made him go back downstairs.
