Halloween at Work
The kids had Friday out of school and it was the Halloween party at my work so I brought them with me. They thought it was fun to wear their costumes and go with mom. It's always interesting to see the costumes that people come up with. I'm always boring and just wear scrubs. When we were getting in the car Savanna asked me if I was a doctor. Sure I said. There was a girl dressed up like the scary witch on Snow White (when the witch changes into the old witch with the apple). She started to walk up (hunched over) to Zachary and he said "NO!" and started to cry. The entire time after that he kept looking over his shoulder and asking where she was. It was a fun day with the kids.

Not ready for this...
I didn't mind too much that it rained all weekend long but I really am not ready for what I woke up to this morning. Snow!! It was super wet and heavy. The apple tree by our driveway had one branch that was so weighed down that it was on the driveway. I had to get the branch clippers and cut the smaller branches off of it so that I could back out of the driveway. And when I did that I had to get a good run at it so I could make it up and out. Time to get my snow tires back on, it seems like I just barely got them off. Yuck!

This picture was taken after Zachary got on the bus and by the time I left for work the driveway was covered.

Field Trip
I went on a field trip yesterday with Hanley. They just walked over to Salem Pond. There is a little history memorial that they learned about the pioneers and then we went to the park section of the pond where the kids played some games. From the school to the pond was 1 1/2 miles. I know, not much, but really made me realize how out of shape I am. The way there wasn't bad because it was slightly downhill, we all had fresh legs and the weather was cool. But the way back killed me, slightly uphill the entire way and it was warm. My legs totally hurt today.

Hayride & Pumpkins
Paige came over on Thursday and we took the kids to the Red Barn. We went on the hayride and got some pumpkins. It was so fun. The kids were so glad that dad got to come with us this time and to have Paige & Brynlie there was super fun too. Afterwards we went to eat then went home to decorate pumpkins. I had bought some sticker faces and we all decorated our pumpkins. The kids played with Brynlie & Paige for a while before she went home. It was a fun day home.

Some Stuff...
Paul came home last Monday. He's been home since and has been working with the drywall company he was with before. He interviewed to drive bus for Lake Shore Motor Coach and they will hire him after he gets his bus certification. He'll also be working on call for the city to drive a snow plow this winter. We are so glad he's home.
Tuesday night Savanna came in my room about midnight and wanted to sleep on my floor. I made her a little bed. About 1:30 I hear "bleh, bleh". She was throwing up. Luckily none of it got on the floor. I wrapped up the blanket and took it to the laundry room. She threw up about 7 more times, about every half hour to hour. The last few times it was just the water she had after she threw up the time before. She was able to make it to the bathroom each time so no clean up, thank goodness. I really am not a nice mom in the middle of the night with sick kids. Just the sound of throw up makes me angry. :) Poor little girl. She stayed home with dad Wednesday and I had Thursday and Friday off of work for Fall Break. Wednesday I got a call from the daycare saying that Zachary's bus dropped him off and he had thrown up on the bus. They ended up being fine and were only sick that one day.
A couple weeks ago when Hanley was at gymnastics we took Zachary & Savanna to the pond. Paul saw what he thought was a dead duck face down in the edge of the water. Then he noticed it was moving a little bit. He picked it up out of the water and it was basically dead, couldn't move or hold it's head up, it was totally limp. The only thing alive about it was that it was breathing but no movement whatsoever. He told me that we were going to take it home and I told him that it would be dead before we even got home. Anyway, we took it home. Paul got some Farina cereal and put it in a childs medicine dropper and was feeding it. We didn't think it would live through the night. But every day it got better and better and after a week it was ready to go back to the pond. I honestly can not believe it recovered. We named him Fred. It was really neat to take it back to the pond. We had it in a kitty porter and put it down by the edge of the pond and opened the door. It walked out and got in the water. It seemed so excited and began cleaning itself. It really was neat that it survived and got to go home.
