The Spinning Thing

We have a teeter-totter in the backyard (although I don't think the kids have ever used it as that). It spins around too and that's about all I see when they are on it. They get going so fast. Zachary will ask me "can me and Savanna go outside on the spinning thing?"

What color are my eyes?

For the last month or so, every few days, Zachary asks me what color his eyes are. Of course each time they are blue. Then he'll ask all of us what color our eyes are. Paul, Hanley and Savanna all have brown eyes and mine are green. I think he's wishing he had brown eyes and that's why he keeps asking, hoping they will change. But his blue eyes are so pretty, I'm glad they are blue. Last night when he asked again, I said "they are blue bud, just like last time." He said "will you change them?" We got a good laugh.

Cassie

Our dog is the sweetest dog I've ever known. She totally loves the kids and loves playing with them. She has the sweetest look in her eyes and always wants you to like her. She's a little needy in the petting area. She has stayed in the house most of the time during winter and has never had an accident. When we leave she stands up against the door looking into the garage and watches us leave. When we get home she is there again. I just laugh everytime cause she's so darn cute.

Ignore the awul screen, the cat has jumped up there a time or two. And you can see the tent that we still have set up in our living room. In the morning when Paul leaves and we hug, she always comes running. She wants a group hug. She will jump up on my side or my back and thinks she has to get a hug too. Seriously, the cutest dog. She follows me everywhere I go. I can't leave a room without her tagging along. If I work at home, she sits next to my chair. When I shower she's either in the bathroom with me or lays right outside the door until I come out. What a good companion.

Savanna

Savanna loves to draw and write. She always wants to take a note pad and a marker or crayon in the car with her. Her name hadn't been so legible for a long time, but in the last week it went from really funny to completely readable and perfect. Even her teacher said to me "can you believe how she can write her name all the sudden?" And in the picture you can see where cereal was pasted to the paper. By the time we got home Zachary had picked them all off and eaten them. I hope they don't use poisonous glue.

Backyard after winter

I hate the way the yard looks after a long winter of heavy snow on it, but this year I just had to laugh at the backyard. It's a total swamp up by the patio, cause that is where the big pile of snow ends up after shoveling. And the kids have been out playing as weather permits throughout the winter and when the snow melted, lots of treasures (junk) were uncovered. There are parts of the paddle boat, sleds, toys, broken bowls, an old laundry detergent bucket from making bricks out of snow, etc... Not to mention the tattered and torn pads from the poles that are supposed to hold the safety net on the trampoline. I should be too embarrassed to post this but since it's only an 'after winter' look I'll deal with it.

No More Snow!

I am so sick of the snow. We had several inches over the weekend. It didn't stick to the roads, only the lawn and melted by the end of each day. But still, I'm so ready for spring and warmth.

Movie Night - Coraline

We all sat and watched a movie that we got from Netflix, Coraline, and it was really weird. I liked it and the kids loved it. When it was over Paul said "that was the dumbest show I've ever seen." It was really weird and had one part that I was kinda shocked about, but we definitely had mixed reviews at our house. Paul had put the dog bed up against the couch and was laying on it. Cassie didn't know what to do. She kept walking around and sitting on him. She didn't know where to go without her bed.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

I had Parent/Teacher Conference with Hanley and Zachary's teachers these last couple weeks. I love that I don't have to be worried about what they are going to say. Hanley always gets good grades and isn't a problem child in class. Zachary's teacher says "I would take a hundred Zachary's." He's in a transitional kindergarten class with 8 other boys and he's the only one that will go to first grade next year. All the others will go to regular Kindergarten. I love my good kids!

We found crystals!!

Yesterday when I got home, Zachary and Savanna were playing in the front yard. When I got out of the van Savanna ran up and said (so excited) "We found crystals!!" I was wondering what they had really found that she thought were crystals. Zachary came up pulling the wagon and said "we put them in here." The wagon was full of pinecones. So funny. I had to get my camera out of my purse and take pictures of them before I went inside. I took another picture of Savanna by it this morning cause the other pictures turned out really dark. She insisted on wearing Zachary's old pants today.

Morning Pictures

Bean Museum...again

The kids didn't have school on Friday so I stayed home with them. We ran to Costco in the morning then stopped at the Bean Museum. Savanna has been wanting to go after hearing us talk about Zachary's field trips there. And it's free so you can't beat that. The first picture with the cat with it's paw on the pheasant is Zachary's favorite. As soon as we got there he told Savanna about it. The second, Savanna said "oh, there's the pokie-pine".

Goodbye Old Phone

I was finally able to swap out my crappy old phone (crappy considering everyone I work with has an iPhone) for a new Android phone. It's fun to have something new and something that actually works. Half the time when my old phone would ring it wouldn't answer when I hit answer, or a lot of times it wouldn't unlock and I'd have to remove the battery to restart it.

Little Mechanic

Zachary was out playing with his car and pulled it up on the patio. He lifted the back of it up and put the ice chest under it to hold it up. Then he got his skateboard, laid on his back and rolled under the car like a mechanic. It was so funny. I remember one time we were watching some show (actually I think it was Herbie) and they laid on the creeper and he thought they were on a skateboard. I told him it was to roll under the car to fix it. He also had a measuring tape and was measuring every little thing on the car.

Glasses

Zachary got his glasses on Monday. When I told him I had them he came over to try them on. He was so excited. We kept asking him if they worked good and he said "I can see better". Thank goodness. I'm so glad. I really wish I could see through his eyes to know how he's been seeing. Tuesday morning when he woke up he sat in front of the TV then got right up to get his glasses. When I got home from work he was smiling so big and pointing at them. I'm so glad he likes them and that he can finally see better.

Weekend

My parents birthdays are this week and my dad has to work 6 weeks with no days off so we figured we'd go see them over the weekend. We had made some cute hearts out of material for Valentine's Day and decided to make some egg shaped ones for Easter. We did a bunch on Friday and a bunch more on Saturday. I cut, Kathy stuffed them, and my mom sewed them all. They turned out really cute.

The kids had a blast playing with cousins, they always do.

Right before we left Zachary was riding his bike across the street. I watched him but didn't realize the place he was riding was probably the only place that had mud. Of course, boys love mud I guess. He had to get in the tub before we left and I had to spray his bike off with the hose.

Baby Chicks

We had to run into Cal-Ranch on Wednesday while Hanley was at tumbling to grab some clamps for Paul. They had big water troughs (of course no water) full of baby chicks. They were so stinkin' cute. Zachary and Savanna couldn't get enough. Usually they just have yellow ones but they had lots of kinds this year. In the trough where all of the little yellow chicks were, they were all bunched together and Savanna said "oh, they are holding each other". So cute!

My Girls

Savanna has wanted to wear skirts every day lately. Every day she says that everyone will think she's pretty. She is pretty.
Last night we put Hanley's hair in a few braids and it looked super cute this morning when we took them out. We'll have to do it more often. Her hair is so thick and it looks really pretty with some curl. What a cutie! When I was taking pictures of the girls the dog kept barking at me. I don't know if she doesn't like the flash, or maybe she just felt left out and wanted me to take some pictures of her.

Birthday Party, Date & a Haircut

Friday night Hanley went to a birthday party with the theme "Despicable Me". They ate pizza, watched the movie and played a few fun games based on things from the movie. The take home goodie bags had all sorts of fun things, again, based on the movie. Sounds like the mom must have spent lots of time planning the party. When I picked Hanley up she said "I wonder what we can do for my party?" Sounds like she's hoping she can do something just as fun. Oh great!

Saturday was grocery shopping and a little bit of house cleaning. Sunday afternoon Paul's sister Debbie came over and watched the kids while him and I went to Outback Steakhouse for dinner. When we got home it was almost time to get the kids in bed but Zachary has been needing a haircut for a while and every night I think I'm going to do it. So.. I rushed him upstairs and cut most of the length with scissors then finished it up with the clippers. It's so much easier in the mornings with it short. He always says he doesn't want it cut but when it's done he's excited to show it off. He looks awnry in the picture but he really wasn't. I had to change batteries and while I was doing that he picked up the bear and bottle. When I went to take a picture he hurry and put it down. I said "oh come on, let me take a picture." So he picked it back up. I love my little Zachary!
