Shooting

Sunday afternoon we took the kids for a ride up West Mountain and stopped a while to sight in our new .22 rifle. Zachary went all around shooting cans on the ground with his BB gun. He had a blast. Savanna seemed to have fun until we got home and she told Paul that she didn't have fun cause she didn't get to shoot anything. He promised her that they would shoot some cans in the backyard sometime this week. We jotted over to Lincoln Beach to show the kids the ice and got to walk on in for a minute.
Savanna got herself dressed, too cute that I couldn't tell her to change.

Living Room Campout

I can't remember how we got on the subject of tents but once we did that's all Zachary could talk about. He wanted one. When I said that we already had one in the basement there was no getting around setting it up. They were so excited.

Alesha's Wedding

My cousin got married on Saturday. The bishop that married them was my 8th grade Algebra teacher. He was my favorite teacher ever. I can't believe it's been about 20 years since I was in 8th grade. Uggghhh. They were going to get married a while ago but she backed out, which explains the cake topper below. Congratulations Jared & Alesha Henderson.

Savanna

This morning on my way to work and to take Savanna to preschool, I had 2 water bottles in the drink holders. She wanted a drink and I handed her one. Then she said "there's a water for me and one for you (pause), mmmm.. that's amazing!".

For the last week or so all she talks about is getting a "dancing dress" so she can "dance with Luke". She says he's her boyfriend. I told her she can't even think about boys until she's at least 18 and she has to have a lot more birthdays. She told Paul that "I have to have a lot more birthdays". I had to explain to him what she was referring to. She is too grown up for her own good.

We went to the carwash and it was busy so I told the kids we'd run across the street and get gas and come back. On our way back to the carwash Savanna could see it and said "I littery (literally) see it".

On the way to my parents house we brought our dog and she was on Savanna's lap and she said "Cassie has NICE elbows".

Throw Up

I got a call yesterday at noon saying Zachary had just gotten off the bus and threw up. I went to pick him up and he started crying and holding his belly. He layed down for about an hour when we got home then seemed fine. He ate tons and didn't throw up again. It must have just been something he ate at the daycare or Kindergarten that didn't agree with him. He was fine this morning. I hope it doesn't happen again or they'll wonder why I sent him to school today. But he woke up at 6:30 and was happily playing with cars in his room.

Outback

Sunday afternoon we took the kids to Outback. That's not usually a place we take kids but I had a few gift certificates so we treated them.

Cassie's New Bed

We found the cutest little dog bed at Costco on Saturday. Hanley thought we had to have it. Cassie likes it and when she's not on it, the kids love to lay on it and watch TV.

Bowling

Since the kids did so good at the dentist I took them bowling. They love bowling and we rarely go so they were excited. They did 3 games, Savanna didn't want to do the last one so I took off my shoes and bowled for her in my socks. Then before we left they got hot dogs and fries.

Dentist

Zachary and Hanley had a dentist appointment yesterday to get cavities filled. Zachary had 4, all of them were on the top of all of his back teeth. So he had to get both sides, up and down worked on. I was worried how he'd handle it, since it's only been the last 2 checkup appointments that he's actually sat and let them look at him. The other times he threw a fit and wouldn't sit in the chair. He did AWESOME!!! He sat so so good, they did use the gas on him to make sure he wouldn't be too traumatized. He didn't move. I am so proud of him.I went in to take a picture of Hanley when it was her turn and she had just gotten her shots. I asked her "Were the shots OK Hambone?" The nurse laughed and said "Is that what you call her? That is too cute!" I laughed.

Shocking

Yesterday I noticed our ice melt line on our roof wasn't working and it was plugged in so I went downstairs and the breaker to the garage was tripped. So I reset it then went down a little later to make sure it was still on. It didn't smell right. I turned it off then back on again and it started to smoke a little. I was totally freaked out. I called an electrician to come take a look at it. All of the breakers were wet, because the dripping off of the roof, leaking into the electrical box outside, then down into the basement to the panel, all because the ice melt line wasn't on to begin with. Arrrrggghhh. He pulled some of the breakers out to dry and was getting shocked. He came back this morning to put them back in. Once we make sure no more water will get in then we need to have them come back and replace all of our breakers before they corrode from the water. Luckily we had $300 just sitting around that we didn't need and we could use for the electrician. We'll have to find that other $1100 that we put somewhere to replace the breakers.

Christmas Decorations and Long Days

I still haven't gotten my Christmas tree or decorations down yet. I've never left them up this long, and it's not because I "love the holidays and don't want them to be over yet", I just simply have not had time. And my house is a disaster. I'm determined to get it all taken care of this weekend.

Yesterday Paul started working at the new Huntsman Cancer Institute they are building in Salt Lake next to University of Utah. They are working 9 hours a day and starting at 6:00 am. He has to get up at 3:45 am to be ready to leave by 4:15. They have to be at a parking lot that's about 2 miles away by 5:30 and be shuttled to the job to be there by 6. He didn't get home last night until almost 6:00 pm. They left the jobsite at 3:30 pm and it took 35 minutes to make it 2 miles in the shuttle back to the parking lot. Then driving home from SLC going south at that time of the afternoon is crazy. And working Saturday's is mandatory.

K-I-S-S-I-N-G

Usually in the morning Paul and I give each other just a peck on the lips before we leave for work. This morning was a little more of a "real" kiss and I realized Savanna was staring at us. We started laughing. She said "Dad, what are you doing to mom?"

Breakfast of Champions

Zachary has to leave so early for the bus and sometimes he won't eat anything. But if there are corndogs he'll eat those. Maybe not the best breakfast, but at least he's got something in his belly before he goes to school.

New Years

We went to my parents for New Years weekend. We still had presents to give to cousins and to spend some time for the holidays. The kids got to exchange their gifts and open presents from Grandma and Grandpa. On New Years Eve the city put on a party at the high school and the kids got to play. The kids have so much fun playing together. We found them in Grandma's sewing room and Hanley was doing their hair.I spent most of the day Friday in my pajamas working on this puzzle with my two sister-in-laws. We finally got it all done. I went and showered and when I came back they had pulled it apart and put it away. All that hard work was gone. Oh well, it was fun.
