Zachary had an appointment yesterday with the Audiologist to check his hearing aids. One of his ear tubes is almost out and the other one is completely out, and already infected. As soon as one of them comes out he gets an infection. So he has to get another set, this will be his fourth. They are going to try a different kind this time now that he's a little older. They are supposed to last about 5 years. The surgery for tubes is real fast and easy recovery, but he is going to be so mad going to the hospital again this soon after his eye surgery. The doctor showed us some new hearing aids. They are just like computers, newer technology that comes out every year. They are smaller and less bulky. Of course they are expensive, just like the set he has now. But maybe in a couple years we'll upgrade.
Paul has been taking a CDL Training class. He had 2 days of class then took his written test and passed with flying colors. He now has his learner's permit and the next couple weeks of class will be all driving. He seems excited to be doing something different. Construction is in the dumps right now so this will get him back to work full time.
Hanley's last day of school is tomorrow. On Monday they celebrated her birthday since it's in the summer. They had a talent show yesterday and a fashion show last Friday. Today is their field day and a big class party where they are going to play games from the 'Minute to Win It' show. When I was little we didn't get to do this many fun things the last week of school. She brought home her report card yesterday and it was great. It's always good but everything the two things she needed to work on got better.

Jumpin' Jacks
We had a gift certificate for Jumpin' Jacks so we took the kids on Saturday. They were so excited when we arrived. After about 5 minutes they were all wanting money for the other little games. I kept telling them "no" and to just get out there and play. I realize it's a place for kids to be crazy and wild, but I really don't care if we ever go there again. I can't believe how obnoxious some kids are and there was one grown man sweating all over the place, it kinda grossed me out. Anyway, they had fun.

Zachary's Preschool Graduation
Zachary had his preschool graduation yesterday. They sang 3 songs then the kids who will go to Kindergarten next year each walked across the stage and got their diploma. Zachary sang and smiled the whole time. When he came off of the stage and the teacher pointed to me, he ran over. As soon as he got to me he grabbed my leg and started crying. It must have been too overwhelming for him. He's loved preschool these past couple years. Hopefully after the summer break he'll love Kindergarten just as much.

Sunday Lunch & Hike
My parents came up Sunday afternoon to go to Home Depot so we met them for lunch at Sizzler. My niece Lanie got to come with them. The kids were so excited to see her. The first thing she did is smiled really big at me and said "look". She was proud of her first lost tooth.
When we got home we took the kids for a hike up on the hill by our house. They thought it was so neat to go "climbing".

School Carnival
Friday was Hanley's school carnival. The kids had tons of fun. They got to go on the "big jumpy things", get their faces painted, ride in the barrels, and more.
This is our little neighbor Trevor. Savanna always holds his hand. She said "we are best friends...forever". He's in my Sunbeam class and they always hold hands on our way to Sharing Time.

Haircut
Zachary's hair was getting so long. I've been telling him he needs his hair cut for weeks. The other night he saw the scissors and said "cut my hair". Although I didn't use the scissors, I used the clippers, we got it cut. He looks so handsome.
"Cuz girls do's that"
Lately anything Savanna does she tells me "cuz girls do's that". That's her reasoning for anything she does, is that's just what girls do.

Trampoline
Zachary and Savanna jumped on the trampoline Sunday night when we got home. Zachary usually tries to double bounce Savanna so she'll fall down. Sometimes they are good are taking turns, sometimes not. That reminds me of what Savanna has been saying lately, she'll say something, then say "or not".
Mother's Day
On Saturday we went up to South Jordan and met my mom, Grandma and aunts & uncles for lunch. We celebrated Mother's Day and my Grandma's birthday. She will be 94 in a few days.
Yesterday we visited Paul's parents. The kids have fun playing in the yard.

On Saturday Paul, Zachary & Hanley went to the store and bought me some flowers and a card. Hanley made me a card and some homemade lip gloss at school.

Saturday Morning Pancakes
The kids usually eat a bowl of cereal, or a corn dog, or if they eat nothing then the babysitter will feed them. But on Saturday mornings I try to make breakfast. We usually end up having eggs and cinammon rolls. That's the kids favorite. Saturday morning I asked them what they wanted and Zachary said 'cancakes'. I corrected him and told him they were 'PPPancakes'. When I started to make them he said "we want Mickey Mouse pancakes like Grandma made". But then he was mad when I tried to cut it up so he could actually eat it without making a huge mess.
Surgery
We told Zachary yesterday morning that we were going to see his eye doctor. When we go there, he always asks me "no water in my eyes?". Cause when they dialated them they put the drops in and he hated it. I usually can tell him "no, no water, they are just going to look at you". But I didn't say anything yesterday. It was going to be worse that water in the eyes. When we walked into the hospital he knew we were not at the doctor's office and he immediately started crying. When we checked him in, they put a wristband on me and said they'd wait to put his on when we got back to the room. He said to me "you getting in the bed?". He was really hoping it was me that was having something done, not him. I said "no buddy". He was so sad. When they took us back he was just bawling. He got through the blood pressure and temperature check fine. But once we got into the room to get his clothes changed, it got worse. He threw a fit when we changed his clothes. They brought in some medicine that would help him relax but he refused to have it. When I put some in his mouth he spit it out. It was so frustrating. I felt so bad for him.
They finally wheeled him away the the OR, he kept looking at us like we were the meanest parents in the world. It took around 45 minutes and we were called back to the post-op room and waited a while in there. When they brought him back he was crying, and he was MAD!! He still had an IV in his arm. I'm sure they had to hold him down in the OR to get that thing in. He was trying to rub his eyes and we kept telling him not to. The nurse tried to put drops in his eyes that would help numb them. He closed them so tight. She said she could give him some more pain medicine in his IV but he would have to stay longer. I said "no, we need to leave as soon as possible". So as she took the IV out, he opened his eyes and I hurry and put the drops in one of them. When he opened them again I got drops in the other eye. The nurse said "he's just nervous, this is a strange place to him". I said "No, he's been here 5 times (it's actually been 6 times, 4 ear tube surgeries, and the removal of his tonsils and adenoids, so this made his 6th surgery in that place), that's why he's mad, he's not nervous, he's pissed".
As soon as we got out of there he calmed down. He was fine the entire way home. All day he slept on the loveseat with a towel on his eyes. Paul fed him throughout the day but he would never let the towel come off of his face. I was happy that he rested and didn't bother his eyes the rest of the day. He wouldn't take any medicine though. I had to mix it in some strawberry milk, and who knows if that's ok, but it was the only way I could get any of it into him. Paul stayed with him and took care of him all day. I kept Savanna upstairs with me so Zachary wouldn't be bothered.
This morning he had a post-op checkup. I told him that we had to go see his eye doctor but that no one was going to touch him, I was going to hold him the entire time. He was fine with that. He didn't cry at all. His poor little eyes are so so red. He will go back next week for another checkup and hopefully we will be able to start seeing the results. He's so used to tipping his head back, it might take him a little time to realize he doesn't need to do that anymore.
I really hope this is his last surgery for a long time. With the 6 he's had at UV and the other eye surgery he had at a different center, this is 7 total. And he's only 5. This little guy has been through way to much.
This is how he spent his entire day, laying down with a wet rag over his eyes.

Cute little sayings...
Little Savanna is constantly full of funny things to say.
Paul has this little toy truck that he keeps up on the shelf. It's a mini rock crawler and sometimes he'll turn it on and the kids will lay down and it will crawl across them. Zachary called it a race truck the other day and I said that it wasn't a race truck, that those kind of trucks go 'slow and steady'. Savanna said "yea, slow and sketti" (she thought I was talking about spaghetti). Then Zachary said "I love sketti".
Last night when I was getting Savanna in bed she told me that her and Hanley were playing 'Hide and Sink'.

My little man
Zachary is having his second eye surgery in the morning. I will be glad when it's over and the results are seen. I really, really hope the results are seen. Last time things didn't turn out as we expected, but after talking to the doctor, maybe we didn't realize exactly what to expect. Please keep him in your thoughts and I'll post later how things went.
Savanna and I went grocery shopping on Saturday morning. Zachary was really sad that he didn't get to go. I told him that I would bring a treat home to him. When I got home he asked for his treat. I totally forgot! So he kept bugging Paul to take him for a ride in his truck. "Just me and you, not mom or Savanna" Zachary said. So Paul took him for a ride and they bought a treat. He loves anytime that he gets to go for a ride in Dad's big truck.
